The AVM FRITZ!Repeater 6000 is a Wi-Fi 6 high-end repeater that you can also use as an access point and as a Mesh node.

The FRITZ!Repeater 6000 is the first Wi-Fi 6 repeater from AVM and can be used multifunctionally. You can install it as a wireless repeater, as an Access Point (AP) or as part of a FRITZ!Box Mesh configuration. As a repeater, you connect the 6000 on the basis of WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) to the existing router, which takes over the SSID and password. If your router does not have WPS, you can also manually adopt the WiFi configuration via the web interface of the 6000. Because the 6000 is a WiFi 6 repeater, a router with WiFi 6 is recommended as a basis, otherwise unequal WiFi configurations arise.
As an AP, you can connect the FRITZ!Repeater 6000 with a 1Gbps LAN cable to an existing router that may or may not support Wi-Fi 6. If the router does not yet offer Wi-Fi 6, then configure the 6000 with the router’s SSID and password and disable the WiFi portion of that existing router. This will give you a high-end Wi-Fi 6 configuration with the specifications described further down. Based on a FRITZ!Box modem/router, you can also use this unit as a node in a Mesh configuration. In a FRITZ! Mesh configuration, the basic link is similar to that of a repeater, but the further configuration is handled automatically by the Mesh master, whereby mutual communication is optimally configured and central management becomes available.

The FRITZ!Repeater 6000 is a high-end device with a total capacity of 6 Gbps. The two 5GHz bands provide up to 2400Mbps per band and the 2.4GHz band provides up to 1200Mbps. Twelve antennas are available for the three radio units for optimal use and maximum WiFi range and coverage. There are also two LAN ports with 1 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps. The latter can be used for coupling to, for example, a Nas that has equal ports. The 6000 has therefore been developed for locations with a lot of simultaneous WiFi use, including high-end online gaming and 4K streaming. Intelligent techniques are used to make the maximum available speed and throughput.
PCA stars 4 5 321We have not yet been able to test the unit with the announced high-end Wi-Fi 6 FRITZ!Boxes, but as an Access Point to a FRITZ!Box 7590 with the 2.5Gbps port connected to a QNAP Nas. The installation is simple. If the repeater is connected to a router with a LAN cable, it is automatically configured as an Access Point from factory settings. The measured wireless transmission speeds are high and reach 1.2 Gbps. The data throughput capacity is lower, because it depends on more factors. All in all, excellent results are achieved with this unit. As an Access Point, the management information is somewhat less than that of a FRITZ!Box.
