It appears that Apple is planning to drop iPadOS 18 support for some older generation devices. Here you can read which iPads are excluded.
iOS 18 support
According to a new rumor, iOS 18 will be compatible with the same devices as iOS 17. Unfortunately, for iPadOS 18, it looks like Apple plans to drop support for some older devices.
The new rumor comes after an earlier rumor last month. The new rumor seems to be a bit more concrete, as it has been shared on social media by a reliable private account. These are the devices with iOS 18 support:
- iPhone XS
- iPhone XS Max
- iPhone XR
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro
- iPhone 11 Pro Max
- iPhone 12
- iPhone 12 Pro
- iPhone 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 12 mini
- iPhone SE (2020)
- iPhone 13
- iPhone 13 mini
- iPhone 13 Pro
- iPhone 13 Pro Max
- iPhone 14
- iPhone 14 Plus
- iPhone 14 Pro
- iPhone 14 Pro Max
- iPhone SE (2022)
- iPhone 15
- iPhone 15 Plus
- iPhone 15 Pro

- iPhone 16 Plus
- iPhone 16 Pro
- iPhone 16 Pro Max
iPadOS 18 support
The rumor goes on to say that iPadOS 18 will drop support for the following iPads:
- iPad (2018)
- iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (2018)
- iPad Pro (10.5-inch) (2017)
Apart from these changes, iPadOS 18 will support the same devices as iPadOS 17:
- iPad: 2019 and newer
- iPad mini: 2019 and newer
- iPad Air: 2019 and newer
- iPad Pro 2018 and newer
Strange choice by Apple
The following is somewhat strange: the iPad Pro (10.5-inch) (2017) and iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (2018) both have an A10X Fusion processor and are reportedly not getting iPadOS 18 support. The iPad (7th generation) (2019) has an A10 Fusion processor and does have iPadOS 18 support.
