Some more homeless fun
Within the Volkswagen family, the T-Roc Cabrio is a first-class free bird. Unfortunately for fans of the open crossover: it will not have a successor.
Volkswagen is doing well with the T-Roc. The crossover has been high in European sales statistics for years and it is therefore not surprising that the T-Roc will eventually be completely replaced. The current Volkswagen T-Roc is also available as a T-Roc Cabrio. Indeed: as a convertible. The open two-door crossover is currently a unique offering in the car world, but it will not remain so for very long.
Next year, Volkswagen will launch a new generation of the T-Roc. That car builds on the MQB basis of the current model, in the same way as the new Passat and Tiguan are further developments of their predecessors. To a certain extent, much remains the same, but a lot also changes. Including in the offer. The Volkswagen T-Roc Cabrio will not return after the generation change.
This is what Kai Grunitz – development boss at Volkswagen – says to Automotive News. Grunitz explains that the market for convertibles is small. Something that Volkswagen could of course also have thought of before the arrival of the T-Roc Cabrio. Still brave that the brand tried it.
