Taking photo with self timer

Prevent motion blur in photos or also put the photographer in the group photo with the self-timer of the iPhone or Android smartphone.

Would you also like to have a group photo? Or do you often move the phone the moment you tap the shutter button to take the photo? Then the function of the self-timer is a godsend. Set up the camera, turn on the timer and wait for the picture to be taken. Below we discuss the steps for iPhone and Android phones.

On an iPhone, taking a photo with the self-timer works like this:

  • Open the app Camera.
  • Make sure the camera app is in photo mode. The word ‘Photo’ at the bottom will then have yellow letters. Optionally, swipe left or right to switch modes.
  • Tap the white arrow at the top of the screen (from iOS 14) or go to the next step on iOS 13 or earlier.
