Back to basics: Honda E.

In a long time, Honda did not bring a big smile to so many people as with the greedy new Honda E. The compact car heralds the electric era for Honda. With all its displays and digital door mirrors, it’s a driving gadget, but what exactly is included in the entry-level version?

Honda E.€ 35,330

The price list of the electric Honda E looks very clear with two available versions. The entry-level version is simply called Honda E for convenience, the more luxurious version may call itself “Advance” for an additional cost of € 3,000. The most striking difference between the two versions is the power of the electric motor. The entry-E gets a 136 hp engine, the Advance has 154 hp. The battery pack is the same size in both cases: namely 35.5 kWh. The extra power is therefore only reflected in the sprint time. The normal E takes 9 seconds to sit on 100, the E Advance takes 0.7 seconds less. The top speed in both cases is 145 km / h. The range is set at 220 kilometers (WLTP). However, that only applies to the Honda E with the standard 16-inch wheels. Those who go for a size bigger, immediately give in 12 km range. On the fast charger (100 kW), both versions need 30 minutes to be charged up to 80 percent again.

The observant viewer can distinguish the E of the Advance in one way. The Advance gets slightly different wheels from Honda. In both cases, they are up to 16 inches in size. Furthermore, the cars are no different from each other, because the entry-E also has shuttered windows at the back, a panoramic roof, LED daytime running lights, folding door handles and the futuristic digital exterior mirrors. The striking Charge Yellow paint color is (luckily!) The standard entry-level color. For a white, gray, blue or black color, Honda asks € 660. If you want the A-pillar in a contrasting silver or blue color, you have to deposit another € 1,250. The similarities are also great inside. What is immediately noticeable is the sky-wide panel full of screens. It is available at all times. However, an extra screen is missing at the location of the interior mirror. The Advance gets a central camera mirror system. The regular Honda E has to do with a normal interior mirror. Also a 230 V socket is not standard, just like Honda’s Parking Pilot that the Advance does get. Standard features include heated seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. That steering wheel cannot be heated electrically, in the more luxurious version it is possible.

Both E’s are optional to dress. For example, a leather interior is available for an additional cost of € 1,500. The 17-inch wheels cost € 1,050 extra and for bronze-colored interior panels, Honda asks € 550. You can order the Honda E immediately. The first copies are expected to arrive at dealers in July.
