Busy on the road during Easter weekend

This weekend it is and will be busy here and there on the Dutch roads because of the Easter weekend. The ANWB.

For some, the Easter weekend has already started and this is noticeable on the Dutch roads. A spokesperson for the ANWB reported on Friday morning that there is a traffic jam of nine kilometers on the A12 from the German border to Arnhem between the border and Duiven. This results in a delay of between fifteen minutes and half an hour. The parking lot of the Paaspop campsite near Schijndel is also busy, the spokesperson says. This speaks of the start of the Easter crowds on the roads on Friday. “We expect it to increase further. It will be a lot busier on the road around noon.”

In the coming days, it will be especially busy on the roads from Germany to the west of the Netherlands, such as on the A1 and A12. “German tourists in particular on their way to the coast and the Wadden Islands can cause delays on the roads to Zeeland and on the N9 to Den Helder,” the ANWB said. The Keukenhof and the Designer Outlet in Roermond are also big crowd pullers during the Easter weekend. Furthermore, crowds are expected on the roads to Zandvoort, due to the Easter races on the Zandvoort circuit. Furthermore, road users must take into account the closure of the Benelux tunnel (A4) from nine o’clock on Friday evening until five o’clock on Monday morning.

If the Easter weekend is over on Tuesday, this could lead to an extra busy Tuesday morning rush hour. The Tuesday morning rush hour is usually already above-average busy, but now even more people are probably going to the office than usual.
